As the Rio Nuevo has partnered with the City of Tucson and numerous developers, Downtown Tucson has experienced a boom in development over the past year, ranging from new lodging to retail to expanding corporate office projects with companies like TEP, Caterpillar, Hexagon Mining and Madden Media.
Living up to its ‘City of Gastronomy’ title, Tucson’s downtown dining scene continues to explode with now over 85 restaurants to choose from. In fact, Tucson ranks #8 US City for Foodies, making it a true ultimate food destination. In addition to a variety of eateries and local lounges, Downtown Tucson’s live entertainment and arts scene continues to grow, earning Tucson the #7 US City for Music spot. From established venues like the Fox Theatre, Hotel Congress and the Rialto Theatre to our newly-renovated TCC arena, there is constant activity and plenty going on downtown!
Be sure to check out 2nd Saturdays Downtown for a fun evening of live music and entertainment, an extensive list of food and drink options and great local shopping. And for easy and convenient transit, take a ride on the Modern Streetcar!
Downtown Tucson has experienced significant growth in lodging accommodations, welcoming new well-known hotels like the AC Marriott and announcing plans for the millennial minded hotel concept, Moxy by Marriott. Other new projects include The Foundation of Senior Living’s multi-million dollar low-income senior apartment complex in conjunction with the Marist on Cathedral Square. These additional housing and hotel accommodations serve as a huge plus for local businesses.
