I have two retired racing greyhounds who make me laugh every day and give me more unconditional love than I can handle. I have fostered more than a dozen as well, teaching them how to adjust to living as pets and getting them ready for their forever homes. Very rewarding, but always hard to say goodbye!
I have also served on the boards of two local non-profit greyhound rescues and I'm currently a member and volunteer with Southern Arizona Greyhound Adoption.
If you have pets you can be sure that I understand how much they are a part of your family, and that they have their own set of wants and needs just like the rest of us! Please check out my pet pages on this site.
I take my fur-babies to Dove Mountain Veterinarian Clinic . Dr Carpenter is the best, and I highly recommend her!
For specialty services Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson (VSCOT) is wonderful, and they offer 24 hour emergency services.
I can suggest vets all over Tucson - just give me a call.
Tips for your Pets:
First and foremost, our desert can be hazards for your pets - the heat can be devastating...make sure they have shade and water, and keep them inside if possible. Please, never leave your pets in your car or the garage! And in the summer, please do not walk your dogs during the heat of the day. The pads of their feet will actually burn and blister in this climate. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their feet!
There are many predators as well - I've heard stories of owls and hawks snatching cats and small dogs, rattlesnakes bites can be deadly, and there are lots of coyotes, bobcats, and other large animals that can pose threats to your beloved pets. If you have any doubts, check out this photo of a bobcat in my friend's backyard. Believe me, they keep their cats inside!
Here is a BRILLIANT idea for all of us with smartphones or tablets...do this today! It might help save your pet someday!
